Antunes at NAFEM 2017

The Highlights and Takeaways from NAFEM 2017

NAFEM is always a great opportunity to connect with customers, prospects and industry partners ― and 2017 was no exception!

For this year’s show, we updated our booth design to feature interactive booth tools. These digital touchscreens offered visitors the opportunity to explore our equipment capabilities through our representative product catalog, customizer tool and Antunes by the Numbers presentation.

We also featured selected pieces of equipment at the show, including two new items: the GST-1H Flat Bread Toaster and the RS-1000 Rapid Steamer prototype.

The new Flat Bread Toaster uses our award-winning Gold Standard Toaster technology to quickly heat pitas, flatbreads, and tortillas, or cook raw tortillas. With the two high-temperature platens, this unit can heat pre-cooked tortillas to 160ºF (71ºC) in approximately 6 seconds and uncooked flour tortillas to 160ºF (71ºC) in approximately 12 seconds.

The RS-1000 rapid steamer is perfect for made-to-order menu items, such as meats, vegetables and pastas and offers casual and fast-casual dining chains an ideal way to address LTO and promotional menu offerings with an efficient piece of equipment. Additionally, the unit’s touchscreen interface allows operators to program recipes for a variety of menu items.

Whether we saw you at the show or not, we’d love to connect. Please take a minute to complete this form to continue the conversation.

Additionally, you’ll find more insights and our take on a few trends from NAFEM 2017 in this article.

Fast and Fresh Eggs with the Dual Zone Egg Station

For operations looking for an efficient, flexible and fresh way to cook eggs, the Egg Station with Dual Zone is a perfect fit.

The ESDZ-1200 unit’s unique split cover divides the grill surface into two independent cooking zones, allowing operations to quickly prepare eggs on demand. Design features of the stainless steel unit include:

  • A small footprint to fit any operation
  • Independent heating element with temperature control for the front and rear areas
  • A timer with two channels that each include four pre-programmed cook times to handle a variety of different products
  • Split cover that provides operations flexibility to fill any volume of orders throughout the day

The ESDZ-1200 was featured in the 2017 NAFEM WHAT’S HOT WHAT’S COOL gallery and was named one of the 2017 Kitchen Innovation Award winners from NRA, where the organization cited the all-day breakfast applications and made-to-order capabilities as two of the product’s distinguishing factors.

Case Study: Consistent Steamer Performance Leads to a Consistent Customer Experience

A fast casual restaurant chain that specializes in hot sub sandwiches was looking to improve product consistency. They wanted a solution that would eliminate the need for employees to manually steam each sandwich ― which could result in inconsistent menu items.

Antunes was invited to test steamers with the chain and the process resulted in the selection of one of our DFW models, which uses dry steam technology to heat food with just the push of a button.

With the DFW, not only did product consistency improve, but the chain saw labor benefits as well. Read the full case study to learn more.
